Epoxy Flooring Cost in Connecticut: What Actually Drives the Price

The short answer

EpoxyGuys flake systems start around $12 per square foot and metallic systems start around $17 per square foot. A typical two-car garage in Connecticut falls in the range you would expect from those numbers once square footage and slab condition are known.

What increases the price

Almost all cost variation on a residential floor comes from preparation and system choice, not from the square footage alone.

• Slab condition — cracks, spalling, pitting and old patches all add repair labor
• Existing coatings that must be mechanically removed before anything new goes down
• Oil and chemical contamination requiring remediation and tolerant primers
• Moisture mitigation where a slab shows vapor drive, common below grade
• Metallic and custom designs, which take more material and more time on site
• Polyaspartic topcoats for faster return to service or UV stability
• Difficult access — narrow bulkheads, stairs, tight commercial phasing, night work

What lowers the cost per square foot

Larger floors cost less per square foot because mobilization, grinding setup and cleanup are spread across more area. A clean, sound, uncoated slab also prices better than a damaged one for the obvious reason.

Combining work — garage and basement in the same visit, for example — is usually cheaper than two separate mobilizations.

Why the cheapest quote often costs the most

A meaningfully lower price almost always means preparation was cut: acid etching instead of diamond grinding, no crack repair, a thin single-coat build, or no moisture evaluation. Those floors look identical on day one and start peeling at the garage door and around the joints within a season or two.

Removing a failed coating and starting over costs more than doing it correctly the first time, because the removal itself is billable labor.
